Nintendo can suck my Wii!

Category: the Rant Board

I was all set to play the Wii with my wife after seeing her flapping around like a lunatic on the balance board. Little did I know I'd hit a stumbling block in that the Wiimote's mouse interface won't work for me because if you get close to the screen with it, it won't register. There seems to be no way around this. I've got partial vision - enough to be able to play other games, but my vision deteriorates the further away I go. WOuld it have killed them to have worked that out? or, if not that, then to allow the analog stick to be used as a mouse like every other friggen console? You know what, Nintendo? You can just go and suck my Wii! You fail.
That is all.

O wow. Game rants....I love them, but it should be the game, not the company, I would be ranting about. Nintendo has done a lot of good things too.

Yes but it is up to the company to work out the concerns of consumers of the product.

Normally I'd agree with you OceanDream. In this case though it is the company. It's not the games I have a beef with but the console itself. I mean I could rant about how annoying it is that Wii fit doesn't speak its instructions or give vocal feedback as to what you're supposed to do, but I wouldn't expect it to (of course it would be nice though). But the fact that you need to be five feet away to have the wiimote respond really IS perplexing. I've been a long-time gamer and have usually found a way to adapt to all the wierd new things game companies throw at me, but this is the first time where I haven't found a way around the problem.

strange. every time i've played with my mom on ours we have never had that type of a problem. i'm just wondering maby you should try to ree sink it? there is a butten that is on the back of the wii, and another button that should be on the back of the remote. press those 2 together, and then see what happens. i'm not sure but I think they both are red buttons. I would try that just to see if it would fix anything

It certainly can't hurt.

I didn't know you could do that. Of course I don't own a Wii at the moment, partly due to lack of funds and also because let's face it, in my studio apartment there's not enough room. But I don't seem to remember that issue with the remotes.
